“Growing In Grace Garden”
You and your family have the opportunity to work together in a community garden in Richmond that grows food to give to local organizations like Helping Hands, a local food pantry, and the Women’s Shelter. For more information, contact Dianne DeGraffenried, Community Service leader, at 713-822-2132 or dige@pdq.net.
You don’t need to bring any tools - just wear closed toe shoes. Growing In Grace is next to the Police Department on Preston Street in Richmond, Texas. Take Hwy 90 past the Court House in Richmond. Then take a right on Sixth (Watch for a sign that shows an arrow to the police dept). Go over the rail road tracks and then make a left on Preston and a right on Seventh. You can’t miss it!
Garden Project
There are families in our area who do not have enough food. In order to help them, we are building raised vegetable gardens with high quality soil in areas where the soil is not good for vegetable gardens. This makes it possible for them to grow some of their own food. We build a 16’ by 16’ box out of 2” by 12” by 16’ treated lumber and fill it with 9 yards of garden mix (one dump truck). We provide seed, tools, garden hose, sprinklers and instructions on how to grow their own food. The cost per home is around $300. We have completed seven gardens so far with great success. The tremendous advantage is that this is an investment that will continue to provide food year after year. If you would like to help, you can donate time or money. To donate, please write "Garden Project" on your check. To volunteer or for more information, please contact us at info@yourlifepointe.com or call the church office at 281-923-7834.
